The Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan
This book is a romantic novel that is exploring different people’s feeling about Christmas.
Our main character is Carmen who didn’t really figured her life out and she is not one of the most successful people. At the beginning of the story she lives at home with her parents but soon enough she moves over to her sisters house in Edinburgh, Scotland. Her main purpose of moving is that she got a job with old and grumpy, Mr. Gredie who owns the bookstore. While the sweet shopping street is getting ready for Christmas and everybody is decorating our Mr Gredie just grumbles away and reads a book. But Carmen is more capable and she gets involved so nicely with the little community of the street. The sister Sofia is the total opposite of
Carmen who is a lawyer and has a family with 3 kids and is expecting a fourth, so no doubt she needs Carmen’s help as well. Of course a romantic story is not complete without the love story, our Carmen opens her eyes in the new city, where she will meet a famous author, students and teachers from the university. The short but easily imaginable scenery descriptions about Edinburgh comes right into your eyes. After reading this book Edinburgh is on my travel list!
This book is really easy to read and really enjoyable! If you like romantic fictions and you want a Christmas theme book, definitely don’t miss this one out!
